Teen girl shot in Atlantic City, two male teens charged

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – Gun violence in Atlantic City struck again, this time, sending a 17-year-old girl to the hospital with a gunshot wound. The Atlantic City Police Department announces the arrest of two juvenile males in the shooting of teenage girl. On October 18, 2021 at 3:57 pm, patrol officers responded to the 700 block of Ohio Avenue in reference to a ShotSpotter alert. Arriving officers located a shooting victim, 17, of Atlantic City. The victim was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, with a non-life threatening injury.

An investigation by initial officers Joseph Kelly and Justin Peyton in coordination with detectives of the Violent Crimes Unit identified two suspects involved. Two males, 16 and 14-years old, were criminally charged.

On October 19 at 2:15 am, Detectives Fariyd Holmes and Malik Tolbert located both suspects at Tennessee and Atlantic Avenues who were arrested without incident.


ARRESTED: A 16-year old male from Atlantic City.

CHARGES: Aggravated assault (three counts), unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and conspiracy.

ARRESTED: A 14-year old male from Atlantic City.

CHARGES: Aggravated assault (three counts), unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and conspiracy.

Both males were remanded to the Harborfields Detention Facility. Charges are mere accusations, and the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.
