Five teens arrested after caught joyriding in stolen Jeep

COLUMBUS, OH – Last night, October 20, 2021, at 6:20 pm, officers on 2 Pct. (Zone 4) observed a gray Jeep driving in the area of Oakland Park & Cleveland Ave. Officers recognized it as the vehicle that was previously stolen out of an armed robbery and believed they recognized one of the occupants as a wanted felon.

The Jeep increased its speed upon seeing police and officers lost sight of the vehicle.

Officers responded to the home they believed the suspects would be returning to & intercepted the Jeep as it parked in the 2000 block of Marcia Dr. The occupants fled and after a brief foot pursuit, officers were able to detain all 5 occupants. A gun was recovered in the 2000 block Marcia Dr. that had been discarded by one of the suspects.


Several of the suspects were determined to have outstanding felony warrants:

*A 14-year-old girl with outstanding felony warrants for Robbery & Receiving Stolen Property.

*A 16-year-old boy with outstanding felony warrants for Aggravated Robbery, Robbery, Kidnapping, 2 counts of Felonious Assault, Tampering with Evidence, Theft, 4 counts of Receiving Stolen Property, Breaking & Entering.

*A 17-year-old boy with outstanding felony warrants for Receiving Stolen Property.

*A 14-year-old girl who’s been arrested twice before. Both times-Receiving Stolen Property-Auto.

*A 15-year-old boy arrested in August-Receiving Stolen Property-Auto & Failure To Comply.
