WYCKOFF, NJ – Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of Jason D. Vicari (DOB: 1/20/2000); single; student) of 605 Bridle Path, Wyckoff, New Jersey on charges of murder, burglary, and weapon possession. The arrest is the result of an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love, and the Elmwood Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael Foligno.
On Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at approximately 9:30 AM, the Elmwood Park Police Department received a 911 call reporting an incident at 24 Beechwood Avenue, Elmwood Park, New Jersey. Responding officers were advised that an injured party was inside the residence and an actor was barricaded. The Bergen County Regional SWAT team, along with the County Regional Crisis Negotiation Team were activated and responded. Vicari was removed and the scene was secured. Officers entered the residence and located 81-year-old Ronald P. Vicari of 24 Beechwood Avenue, Elmwood Park, New Jersey, deceased on the floor in the bathroom.
An investigation conducted by detectives from the Elmwood Park Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit revealed that Ronald Vicari was murdered during the commission of a burglary.
On Wednesday, October 19, 2021, JASON VICARI was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree felony murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3a(3); one count of first-degree murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3a(1); one count of first-degree murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3a(2); one count of second-degree burglary, N.J.S.A. 2C:18-2b(2); one count of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4d; and one count of fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5d. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
