KEARNY, NJ – U.S. President Joe Biden visited the New Jersey Transit Meadowlands Maintenance Center on Monday and after he gave his speech, in which he coughed at least a dozen times, he left the podium. The President coughed in his hand then proceeded to shake hands with others, including New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy. After coughing, he put his hand out for an imaginary air-shake with nobody, before walking off the podium.

Joe Biden often coughs during his speeches. Earlier this month, a veteran journalist asked Press Secretary Jenn Psaki whether or not he suffers from a chronic respiratory illness.

“Many of us were in the East Room watching the president. We’ve seen him on many occasions where he has a repeated cough. What is the situation with that cough? And is that a concern?” asked journalist Brian Karem.

“He’s doing great. He has some allergies,” Psaki said.
