Off duty Okaloosa Deputy saves choking victim

OKALOOSA COUNTY, FL – The Okaloosa County Sherrif’s Department applauded one of their own for quick thinking and life-saving action. Deputy Todd Sears successfully performed the Heimlich maneuver on a patron at a restaurant who was choking.

The OKSO issued the following message:

Deputy Todd Sears was thankfully in the right place at the right time with the right skills! He and his wife went to Samuel’s Roadhouse to eat and he noticed a man across from him appearing to be in distress as if choking. When he saw fear in the man’s eyes he got out of his booth to assist. The other man also stood up and Deputy Sears quickly performed the Heimlich maneuver until whatever was blocking the man’s airway was dislodged.
