Police investigating attempted kidnapping of woman in Gaithersburg

GAITHERSBURG, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division, are investigating the attempted kidnapping of an adult female in Gaithersburg.

On Wednesday, November 3, 2021, officers responded to the 800 block of Marsh Street for the report of an attempted kidnapping. Responding officers spoke with the victim who stated that at approximately 3:25 p.m., as she was waiting on Raven Ave. for her children to get off of the school bus, a blue sedan stopped in front of her. She stepped backwards when a Black male exited the vehicle and grabbed the woman’s arm, attempting to pull her into the back seat of the sedan.

The woman was able to get away from the suspect and ran to another vehicle that was driving by for help.


The suspect returned to the sedan, entered the front passenger seat and the vehicle sped away towards Girard Street.

The suspect is described as a bald Black male, about 6-feet tall, and medium build. He was wearing a red jacket. The victim described the driver of the sedan as a bald Black male in his mid-30’s.

Detectives are asking for anyone with information regarding these suspects or this crime to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
