Daughter charged after stabbing, killing mother

STOCKTON, CA – On November 9, 2021, at 11:56 p.m., officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 1100 block of N. Commerce Street. During the preliminary investigation, officers learned a mother and daughter were involved in a physical altercation. During the fight, the daughter stabbed her mother with a knife.

The daughter then fled into her residence but was taken into custody by officers without incident. The mother, a 43-year-old woman, was transported to an area hospital where unfortunately she died from her injuries. Homicide detectives responded for the investigation. Arrested was Zaria Hornsby, 21, for homicide. Hornsby was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.
