Peters Township man charged for deadly assault

BALDWIN, PA – On July 18, 2021, Baldwin Borough Police were dispatched to the 5100 block of Brownsville Road for a fight. When officers arrived, they discovered 51-year-old Mark Thompson on the ground unconscious and bleeding. Thompson was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. Baldwin Police determined that 22-year-old Zachary Blake from Peters Township was responsible for the assault and charged Blake accordingly.

On July 22, 2021, Thompson died from his injuries, and Baldwin Police requested the assistance of the Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit.

On November 1, 2021, the county Medical Examiner’s office ruled the manner of death as homicide. On November 22, 2021, in consultation with the district attorney’s office, homicide detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Blake charging him with criminal homicide. Blake was taken into custody by Baldwin Borough Police and is lodged in the Allegheny County Jail.
