Woman wins lottery for third time, this time $50k

Talk about luck! A Montgomery County player just visited Maryland Lottery headquarters for a third time to claim her third $50,000 prize. The 61-year-old twice won that amount playing scratch-offs in 2018 and just recently won the same prize again.

In addition, to add to her amazing tale of Lottery luck, the winner purchased all three instant tickets from the same Lottery retailer. That business is Talbert’s Ice & Beverage Service in Bethesda.

A couple of weeks ago, the avid scratch-off player stopped in to buy two $5 Lucky instant tickets. The Chevy Chase resident prefers not to scratch off the games. Instead, she scans the prize check area to see if they are winners or not. The first Lucky ticket she scanned was not a winner, but, to her surprise, the second one revealed the game’s top prize of $50,000.

“I just didn’t believe it, again!” said the retired housekeeper. “When I saw that message, ‘See Lottery,’ I just left immediately and scratched off the rest of the ticket in the car.”

The big winner told Lottery officials that she was surprised and in shock. After she calmed down, she called her best friend to share the unbelievable news.

“When she told me, I was so happy for her,” said the best friend, who accompanied our winner to claim the prize. “It was hard to believe that she won $50,000 again.”

In 2018, the fortunate player won $50,000 playing the $50,000 Bonus Cash game in August and $50,000 playing the Cash Craze Doubler instant ticket in October.

“People play every day and not win,” she said. “It’s amazing that I won three times.”

The mother and grandmother said the win came just in time, too. She plans to use the prize for home improvements.

Also celebrating its sale of a $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off is Talbert’s Ice and Beverage Service located at 5234 River Road in Bethesda. For its role in the sale, the lucky Montgomery County retailer will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
