Driver who struck and critically injured 15-year-old girl facing more charges after fleeing

JERSEY CITY, NJ – On Monday, November 29, 2021, at approximately 12:30 p.m., members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Regional Collision Investigation Unit arrested Boris Marroquin Solorzano, age 30, of Jersey City on additional charges regarding Saturday afternoon’s vehicular collision in which he struck a 15-year-old female pedestrian causing serious injuries.

Marroquin Solorzano was arrested at the Office of the Hudson County Prosecutor in Jersey City without incident. He has been charged with one count of Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1.1, a third-degree crime; one count of Causing Serious Bodily Injury While in Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Being Unlicensed in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:40-22b, a fourth-degree crime; and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(2), a second-degree crime.

Following his arrest, Marroquin Solorzano was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first appearance.


On November 27, 2021, shortly after 3:30 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department responded to an incident in the area of Delaware Avenue near the intersection with Duncan Avenue in Jersey City. The responding officers discovered a second incident in which the 15-year-old victim was apparently struck and seriously injured near 196 Duncan Avenue. The vehicle that struck her had left the scene.

The victim of the collision was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where she is currently being treated for her injuries. Her injuries continue to be critical and life-threatening.

During the preliminary investigation, it was discovered that a 2009 Honda Accord had struck the teenager as she was crossing Duncan Avenue. Members of the JCPD found the suspected vehicle on Condict Street and arrested the driver, Marroquin Solarzano, on suspicion of Driving While Intoxicated.

Marroquin Solorzano’s 4-year-old daughter was found to be unrestrained in the rear of the crash vehicle at the time of his arrest on Saturday.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and Jersey City Police Department with the arrest.

The collision continues to be actively investigated by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department.
