Phil Murphy hints Republican lawmakers defying state capitol vaccine mandate could be arrested in the future

TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey Republican lawmakers could face criminal arrests if they continue to protest the Democrat party’s vaccination mandate at the state capitol, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy warned this week.

When asked by Associated Press reported Mike Catalini, will lawmakers potentially be arrested for violating the Statehouse vaccination mandate.

“Nothing’s ever off the table,” Murphy responded. “I do want to underscore the absolute irresponsibility of those folks who are willfully putting other innocent members and their family’s houses at risk. It is completely and entirely irresponsible, unacceptable…That’s an option you’d always want to keep on the table but nothing – no plans at the moment.”

Murphy using the State Police and law enforcement to enforce COVID-19 mandates is nothing new. In 2020, Murphy weaponized the Alcoholic Beverage Commission to shut down bars and restaurants who were violating his COVID-19 mandates. The governor’s office also tasked the Attorney General’s Office and State Police to crack down on businesses violating the mandates, issuing hundreds of summonses, even making criminal arrests of business owners in violation of his executive orders.
