NEWTOWN, PA – The following is a list of police interactions in Newtown, PA, reported by the Newtown Police Department.

At approximately 12:15 am police conducted a traffic stop on the operator of a black Dodge Ram pick-up truck for committing a vehicle code violation on the Newtown Bypass in the area of Newtown Langhorne Road. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The operator was unable to satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

At approximately 2:30 pm police were dispatched to TD Bank on West Road for the report of a fraud. A white male in his sixties attempted to withdraw $4,000 with a fake I.D. from an account that was not his. The male left on foot when the bank employees grew suspicious. Upon arrival, police surveyed the surrounding area for the male with negative results.


December 5, 2021 A Newtown Township resident contacted police around 4:45 pm to report a fraud. The complainant explained that someone opened a credit card and purchased an $850 flat-screen TV from Best Buy in his name. The purchase and credit card were canceled, and the complainant did not suffer a monetary loss.

December 6, 2021 A Newtown Township resident contacted police around 11:15 am to report a theft. The complainant explained that he ordered a laptop online. FedEx indicated that the laptop was delivered, but he never received it. The total value of loss was $2,500.

December 9, 2021 At approximately 3:00 pm police conducted a traffic stop on the operator of a white Mercedes for committing a vehicle code violation on the Newtown Bypass in the area of Buck Road. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected several signs of impairment. The operator was unable to satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. The operator refused to submit to chemical testing, and charges are pending.
