New Jersey students scared that Phil Murphy will shut down schools again

A panel of school children spoke with NBC in a round table setting this week and children are fearful of another school shut down at the hands of New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy.

“I’ve head things like, that they might shut down schools and put people on remote again,” the student said. “I don’t want that to happen because during COVID it was really hard and I was on remote all year. When I finally came back to school, everything was different.”

The looming anxiety has cast a dark cloud across New Jersey for both students and parents. Despite the state having the most strict COVID-19 rules for public school students in the nation and is one of the top states as far as vaccination rates, COVID-19 activity is at 2020 levels once again.
