Pennsauken police searching for hit and run suspect

PENNSAUKEN, NJ – On Friday, December 17th, 2021, at approximately 1720 hours, Pennsauken Police Department responded to the 6300 block of Westfield Ave between Cove Rd and Penn St., for a report of a pedestrian hit and run motor vehicle collision. The pedestrian, Mayra Polanco, Age 47, of the 6300 block of Westfield Ave, suffered significant bodily injury as a result of the collision and is listed in extremely critical condition in Cooper Hospital. Polanco was struck southbound on Westfield Ave. while crossing the street.​The driver of the striking vehicle struck Polanco, failed to stop, and fled on Westfield Ave southbound before making a left turn eastbound onto Horner Ave. There were several witnesses and video surveillance camera systems that captured the suspect’s vehicle. The vehicle is described as a silver or light blue in color minivan, possibly a Honda Odyssey. The vehicle appears to be a 2005-2010 model year. The vehicle sustained damage to the front end of the vehicle, passenger side light assembly, and front windshield.
