Two charged for Paramus burglaries

PARAMUS, NJ – Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of LOURRISTON POTTER (DOB: 9/17/1982; married; non-profit employee) of 4 Catherine Street, Port Jervis, New York and RICKY LAND (DOB: 12/04/1981; single; unemployed), currently incarcerated in the Pike County, PA Correctional Facility, on burglary and theft charges. These arrests are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office “BCPO” under the direction of Chief Jason Love, the Paramus Police Department under the direction of Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg, and the Montvale Police Department under the direction of Chief Joseph Sanfilippo.

During a 1½ year-long investigation by detectives from the BCPO, Paramus Police Department and Montvale Police Department, LOURRISTON POTTER and RICKY LAND were identified as suspects in commercial burglaries which occurred at AT&T Wireless stores in Montvale on May 4, 2020 and Paramus on May 9, 2020.

On Friday, December 17, 2021, members of the BCPO, the Port Jervis, NY Police Department and the Pike County, PA District Attorney’s Office arrested LOURRISTON POTTER without incident at his home. Subsequently, RICKY LAND was served with charges while incarcerated at the Pike County Correctional Facility on an unrelated matter.

POTTER and LAND were each charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, N.J.S.A. 2C:18-2a (1); two counts of third-degree criminal mischief, N.J.S.A. 2C:17-3a (1); two counts of third-degree conspiracy to commit burglary, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2A (1)/ N.J.S.A. 2C:18-2a (1); and one count of third-degree theft by unlawful taking, N.J.S.A. 2C:20-3a.


Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would like to thank the Paramus Police Department, Montvale Police Department, Port Jervis, NY Police Department, Pike County District Attorney’s Office, and the Pike County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance in this investigation.
