15-year-old killed after 8 story fall from cruise ship returning to Miami

MIAMI, FL – A teenage passenger aboard the cruise ship MSC Seashore headed back toward Miami fell overboard. The ship was sailing on December 22nd when three alarms sounded and the message “Man overboard on port side” rang throughout the ship.

The teen fell off a balcony from deck 16 and according to reports didn’t land in the ocean but on the deck 8 promenade of the 20 level ship.

MSC Seashore is a 1,112-foot long cruise ship that just launched in August of 2021. It has a capacity of 5,887 passengers and is currently based out of its home port in Miami. It had just completed a five-day Caribbean cruise voyage.


“A young man traveling with his family on board MSC Seashore appears to have died of suicide Wednesday evening. Our team immediately notified authorities and our care team is assisting the young man’s family on board,” the cruise line said in a statement. “All of us at MSC Cruises are heartbroken. The family remains in our thoughts and prayers.”
