STUART, FLORIDA – 53-year old Philip Christopher Di Leo of Stuart made a run for it after crashing his car into two other motorists. It happened along Kanner Highway near Salerno Road. Seconds before the crash, Di Leo’s vehicle passed an MCSO Road Sergeant at a high rate of speed (between 100-110 mph). But before the Sergeant could make a safe attempt to stop the car, it crashed into two others.

The Sergeant along with another witness then saw the shirtless driver get out and run. Deputies along with a K-9 Unit and Air 1 quickly established a perimeter and searched for the suspect (identified as Di Leo). Di Leo was located hiding in the water under a private dock along Gaines Avenue.

He was arrested and charged with Failure to Stop at a Crash with Injuries and Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Property Damage. He was taken to the Martin County Jail. The two other motorists were treated at the scene.
