Motor vehicle crash leads Brick police to crack dealers

BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ – At approximately 9:30 P.M. on Wednesday, December 29th, Detectives from the Street Crimes Unit observed a white Honda on Drum Point Rd. fail to maintain its lane of travel. The vehicle pulled into the Wawa at 383 Drum Point Rd., and the occupants entered the store. K-9 Officer Scott Smith arrived to assist.

Investigation at the scene led to the discovery of a quantity of amphetamine pills, crack cocaine, paraphernalia, and a large amount of cash.

The driver, Frank Russo Jr. (67 years old from Brick) was charged with distribution of crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and motor vehicle summonses. The passenger, Matthew Russo (38 years old from Brick) was charged with possession of amphetamine pills and possession of paraphernalia. Both subjects were served warrants and lodged in Ocean County Jail, and the cash was seized as per asset forfeiture procedures.

As of Friday, both suspects were released from the Ocean County Jail.
