Pool of blood outside motel room leads police to mutilated, murdered woman’s body

MONROEVILLE, PA – On January 1, 2022 at 9:29 a.m., Monroeville Police were dispatched to the Roadway Inn for a large amount of blood outside of a room. When officers arrived, they discovered 37-year-old Matthew Gribschaw standing outside the room covered in blood. Monroeville Police checked the motel room and discovered a 49-year-old female deceased and badly mutilated.

Monroeville Police requested the assistance of the Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit. It was determined Matthew Gribschaw was responsible for the homicide. County Police charged Gribschaw with criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence. Gribschaw will be lodged in the Allegheny County Jail awaiting arraignment.
