Seven Shot, Two Dead in Several New Year’s Day Baltimore Shootings

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND – On January 1, 2022 there were several shootings reported.

At approximately 9:53 p.m., officers responded to the 2000 block of N. Broadway for a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 13-year-old male who had been shot in his left hand. The victim was taken to an area hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. Eastern District shooting detectives are investigating this incident and are asking anyone with information to call (410) 396-2433 or call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7lockup.

At approximately 8:56 a.m., officers responded to a home in the 1600 block of N. Pulaski Street for a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 5-year-old girl who was suffering from a graze gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. Western District shooting detectives have learned that the victim was accidentally shot by her 6-year-old brother after he got ahold of their father’s gun. The weapon was recovered and the father was at the scene. This investigation is ongoing. Charges are pending.


At approximately 10:24 p.m. officers responded to an area hospital where a shooting victim walked in seeking treatment. Upon arrival, officers located a 21-year-old male who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his shoulder. The victim refused to tell officers where he was shot. Southern District shooting detectives are investigating this incident and are asking anyone with information to call (410) 396-2499 or call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7lockup.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., officers responded to the 3600 block of Gelston Drive for a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located two unidentified adult males who had been shot and pronounced deceased at the scene. A third victim, a 16-year-old male had also been shot in the leg. He was transported to an area hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. Homicide detectives responded out and are investigating this incident. At approximately 1:44 a.m., officers responded to an area hospital where a shooting victim walked in seeking treatment. Upon arrival, officers located an 18-year-old male who was suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim reports he was walking somewhere in the Fella Point area when he heard what he though were firecrackers. He felt a burn and began to run. Southeast District shooting detectives are investigating this incident and are asking anyone with information to call (410) 396-2422 or call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7lockup.
