Fort Lauderdale police report gunshot killing

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL – Fort Lauderdale Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at approximately 1:55 p.m. The incident occurred at 1548 Southwest 23rd Court in the City of Fort Lauderdale.


Officers responded to the area after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival on scene, they located an adult male victim inside the home with gunshot wounds. The arriving officers provided tactical medical care until Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue arrived. The victim was trauma alerted to Broward Health Medical Center by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue where he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as Carlton McMillan III, B/M, 05/25/1993, a resident of the City of Fort Lauderdale.


Preliminary investigation has revealed that the suspect, Ivan Alberti Sierra, H/M, 12/24/1989, a resident of the City of Fort Lauderdale, went to the victim’s home. The victim was known to Alberti Sierra. After shooting the victim, Alberti Sierra fled the scene.



A short time later, and with the assistance of the Miami Dade Police Department, Alberti Sierra was located and arrested. Alberti Sierra has been charged with murder and is currently in custody at the Miami-Dade County Jail.
