Powerball Ticket Worth $100K Sold in Somerset County

Kristen Harrison-Oneal

Middletown, PA – A Pennsylvania Lottery retailer in Somerset County sold a Powerball® with Power Play® ticket worth $100,000 for the Wednesday, January 5 drawing. The ticket matched four of the five white balls drawn, 6-14-25-33-46, and the red Powerball® 17 to win $100,000, less applicable withholding. Without the $1 Power Play® option, the ticket would have been worth $50,000. The Power Play® multiplier drawn was two.

One Stop, 1639 Pitt St., Jennerstown, earns a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Winners are not known until prizes are claimed and tickets are validated. Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball® winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes. The holder of the winning ticket should sign the back of the ticket and contact the nearest Lottery office.

More than 195,600 other PA Lottery Powerball® tickets won prizes of various amounts in the drawing, including more than 40,500 tickets purchased with Power Play® and more than 16,200 tickets purchased with Double Play®. Players should check every ticket, every time.

Two jackpot-winning Powerball® tickets were sold for the January 5 drawing, one in California and the other in Wisconsin. The jackpot, worth an estimated annuity value of $632.6 million or an estimated cash option of $450.2 million, is the seventh-largest Powerball® jackpot. The jackpot had been rolling since Oct. 4, 2021, when a single ticket in California won a $699.8 million grand prize.

Powerball® launched Monday draws on August 23, 2021. In Pennsylvania, in addition to Power Play®, Powerball® players can also purchase Double Play®, an optional feature that gives players another chance to win with their Powerball® numbers in a separate drawing with a top cash prize of $10 million.

Pennsylvania Lottery players have options to purchase their Powerball® tickets online or by visiting a retailer. Players can find lottery-selling locations closest to them by visiting the Find a Retailer section of the Lottery’s website.
