Man arrested for Monday’s Fayetteville road rage shooting, murder

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Police in Fayetteville have arrested a man suspected of shooting and killing Stephen Addison, 32, in a fit of road rage Monday. The suspect, Roger Dale Nobles has been charged with first degree murder and has been booked into the Cumberland County Jail. Nobles was arrested at his home.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male that had been shot. The preliminary investigation has revealed a driver of a truck was engaged in a disturbance with a driver of a motorcycle resulting in the motorcyclist being shot by the suspect. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. The victim was transported to a local hospital but has succumbed to his injuries; his identification is pending next of kin notification.

Police say Nobles’ son, Robert, Jr. got out of the truck and confronted the motorcycle driver before the elder Noble shot and killed the driver.


Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit are on scene and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
