HOUSTON, TX – Houston police have reported that charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one man and wounding of another at 4346 Mallow Street about 1:25 a.m. on Saturday.

The suspect, Dwain Markus Galentine (b/m, 50), is charged with capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 184th State District Court.  He is accused in the death of Tristan Fontenot, 43 and the wounding of a second man, 42.   A booking photo of Galentine, who remains hospitalized, is not available at this time.   HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Escobar and C. LaFour reported:   HPD patrol officers responded to a Shot Spotter call at a residence at the above address and found a male (Galentine) with gunshot wounds in the roadway.

As officers attempted to provide assistance, they were advised of two other shooting victims inside the residence.  Officers located the two males inside the doorway.  One of them, later identified as Tristan Fontenot, was pronounced deceased.  The male (Galentine) found in the street was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to an area hospital.  The male inside the residence was able to provide officers with a brief description of the suspects prior to being transported to the hospital.   Further investigation determined Galentine was one of the suspects.  According to the surviving victim, the suspects arrived at the residence and attempted to rob the victims.

The suspects displayed weapons and fired multiple shots, striking both victims.  The surviving victim managed to get his own weapon and fired shots at both suspects, striking Galentine.  The second suspect, described only as a black male, fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.  It is not known at this time if he was struck by the gunfire.   The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted and Galentine was subsequently charged for his role in the incident.

Anyone with information in this case or on the remaining wanted suspect is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
