Border Patrol Agents Encounter Stolen Vehicle at Checkpoint

UVALDE, Texas U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Uvalde Border Patrol Immigration Checkpoint on Highway 90 encountered a stolen vehicle during normal operations, Jan. 18.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., a 17-year-old male, United States citizen, driving a green 2014 GMC Yukon approached the Highway 90 checkpoint. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle at primary inspection lane. The agents referred the vehicle to secondary inspection for further investigation.

During inspection, agents discovered the vehicle was reported stolen out of Houston and found a green leafy substance that tested positive for the characteristics of marijuana.


The driver, a U.S. citizen and resident of Houston, was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of marijuana.

The driver, vehicle, and marijuana were turned over to Uvalde County Sheriff’s Office.
