Border Patrol Agents Encounter Felon in Possession of Firearm

DEL RIO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass South Station encountered a convicted felon in possession of a loaded firearm, Jan. 19.

Agents assigned to the immigration checkpoint on Highway 57, near Eagle Pass, referred a Dodge Avenger for secondary inspection. Further investigation revealed that the driver, a San Antonio resident, was a convicted felon in possession of a .22-caliber firearm.

The man’s criminal history included a July 2015 arrest for aggravated robbery in San Antonio. In June 2016, he was convicted and sentenced to five years confinement in Huntsville, Texas.


The firearm, magazine, and ammunition were turned over to Maverick County Sheriff’s Office.
