Brick Township Middle School evacuated during odor investigation

BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ – Fire personnel on scene at Veteran’s Memorial Middle School in response to an odor investigation. Students have been moved over to Vets Elementary temporarily.

All students are safe and accounted for, and are expected to be returned to their assigned classrooms shortly.

The Board of Ed will release a statement today with details of the incident. No further information was released. Parents have received a phone call about the situation.

UPDATE from Brick Township School District:


Veterans Memorial Middle School was evacuated at 9:20 AM this morning, Friday, January 21, 2022, due to a suspected gas odor in one section of the school. The Brick Township Police Department, Fire Department, NJ natural gas and Brick Township Public Schools Facilities Department all responded.

At 10:30 AM the brick Township Fire Department issued an all-clear for Veterans Memorial Middle School. Students and staff returned to the building at 10:45.
