Newark man charged for taking lewd photos of teenage girl in New Castle Walmart

New Castle- Delaware State Police have charged Omar Edwards, 25, of Newark, with invasion of privacy and harassment after taking photographs of a juvenile inside a New Castle Walmart.

The incident occurred on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at approximately 11:27 a.m., when troopers responded to the Walmart located at 117 Wilton Boulevard, New Castle, DE, in reference to an invasion of privacy. The investigation determined a male suspect was observed inside the store taking photographs with his cellphone up the skirt of a 14-year-old female victim without her knowledge. Edwards fled the scene prior to troopers arriving on scene. Through investigative means, troopers identified the suspect as Omar Edwards.

On January 19, 2022, Edwards was contacted at his residence and taken into custody without incident. Edwards was transported to Troop 2 where he was charged with the following crimes:


  • Violation of Privacy (Felony) – 3 counts
  • Harassment

Edwards was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and released on $7,000 unsecured bond.
