Maryland Transportation Authority Police recover stolen vehicle, fugitive driver wanted for 2021 shooting

HARFORD COUNTY, MD – MDTA Police Officers arrested a Virginia man on open warrants and stolen vehicle charges after a traffic stop yesterday afternoon in Harford County. An MDTA Police Officer assigned to the HEAT (Homeland Enforcement and Traffic) Team was on patrol on southbound I-95 when he located a blue Honda CRV that had been reported stolen by the Providence (RI) Police Department.

Officers stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as 28-year-old Frederick C. Scott of Charlottesville, VA. Investigation revealed that Scott was wanted by the Charlottesville Police Department on multiple felony warrants for his alleged role in a November 2021 shooting. Scott was taken into custody and transported to the Harford County Detention Center without incident. MDTA Police Officers were assisted by the Baltimore County Police Department Aviation Team during this arrest.
