New York Governor blames illegal guns, not criminals or soft on crime Democrats for death of NYC cop

NEW YORK CITY, NY – New York Governor Kathy Hochul, responding to the shooting death of a New York City Police Officer and another officer clinging to life in critical condition in the hospital has blamed illegal guns and not criminals for the incident.

“Last night, a shot from an illegal gun took the life of [New York City] officer,” Hochul said. “When I say we’re going to do everything we can to stop the scourge of illegal guns in our state, it’s not just talk. We are tripling funding for efforts to get these guns off the streets.”

Hochul said despite the state already having tough gun laws, guns are being brought in from other states to be used for violent crimes all over her state.


“They’re coming in from other states,” she said. “They’re flooding our streets.”
