Two shot, hospitalized in Columbus Sunday night

COLUMBUS, OH – One person was shot and is recovering in the hospital in stable condition in Columbus. During the police investigation, a second victim drove themselves to the hospital in the same shooting.

On January 23, 2022 at 5:28pm, officers were dispatched to the 4000 block Walford St. on a report of a person shot.

Upon arrival, officers made with the 33-year-old victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim stated that he was sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot of the 4000 block of Walford S. when an unidentified individual fired several gunshots into his vehicle striking him once in the upper body. The victim was transported to a local area hospital in stable condition.


While investigating, the initial incident officers learned of a second victim who transported himself to a local hospital suffering from a single gunshot to the lower body. Detectives responded to the local hospital where they interviewed the 30-year-old male who stated that he was walking through a parking lot in the 4000 block of Walford St. when persons unknown fired multiple gunshots into his direction striking him once in the lower body.

This incident is still under investigation.
