Police launch homicide investigation after body found in Germantown

GERMANTOWN, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Major Crimes Division are currently investigating a homicide after a body was located outdoors in the 18900 block of Grotto Lane in Germantown.

On Monday, January 24, at approximately 3 p.m., the Emergency Communications Center received a call for the found body of a male subject. Officers from the 5th District responded and located an unidentified Black male, possibly in his late teens. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.

The victim was identified as a 17-year-old male from Germantown.


This is an active and ongoing homicide investigation.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy to determine the manner and cause of death.

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the homicide suspect(s). Callers can remain anonymous.
