Columbus police seeking houseguest who shot at woman’s door during verbal altercation

COLUMBUS, OH – Early Friday morning at 3:49 am, Columbus Police patrol officers responded to the 1700 block of E. Long St. on the report of a man with a gun.

Officers arrived and made contact with the residents and found that the front door of the residence had been shot at. The resident stated that after a verbal altercation with the suspect, 35-year-old Fredrick Steward who had been a guest, shot through their front door.

The resident stated that during the verbal altercation, the suspect charged her front door. She closed, locked it and leaned against it. The suspect kicked the door several times. The resident heard a loud pop. She found her door had been shot through as she leaned against it.


The police were called. No injuries were reported. A warrant for felonious assault was issued for Fredrick Steward. If anyone has further info regarding this incident/suspect, please contact CPD’s Domestic Violence Unit at 614-645-7225 or raltherr@columbuspolice.org.
