Pedestrian struck and killed, police searching for gray Mercedes-Benz

AUSTIN, TX – On January 23, 2022, at approximately 1:54 a.m., APD officers responded to the 8000 blk of Research Blvd. SB for an auto and pedestrian crash. The pedestrian was outside of his vehicle inspecting it from a previous crash, when a gray Mercedes-Benz struck the pedestrian. The unknown driver left the scene after striking him. Oscar Carreon Valdez was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Description of vehicle:

  • Gray Mercedes-Benz 
  • Damage to the front of the passenger side
  • Missing passenger side mirror
