One shot and killed in Sacramento shooting

SACRAMENTO, CA – On January 31, 2022 at approximately 3:45 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 800 block of El Camino Avenue regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, an adult male, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Officers attempted life-saving efforts. Despite these efforts, the victim was eventually pronounced deceased on scene by Sacramento Fire Department personnel.

Detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation and will be conducting a thorough canvass of the area for evidence and witnesses. This investigation is in its early stages and information is limited. The circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation and there is no suspect information to provide at this time.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
