Brick Police make multiple charges in ongoing anti-drug crackdown

BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ – The Brick Township Police Department, in an effort to combat the sale and trafficking of drugs in the community have announced multiple drug related charges today.

On 1/24/22 Street Crimes Unit Detectives observed a vehicle traveling on Drum Point Road and Brick Boulevard exceeding posted speed limits and failing to maintain its lane of travel. Detectives made a motor vehicle stop at 538 Brick Blvd. (Burger King) During the stop, detectives observed heroin in plain view. A search of the vehicle resulted in heroin, hypodermic syringes, Clonazepam, prescription legend pills, and drug paraphernalia.

The driver, Marlena Martinez, 42 years of age from Lakewood, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic syringes, possession of clonazepam, possession of a prescription legend drug without a prescription, careless driving and possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a motor vehicle.

The passenger, Manny Martinez, 40 years of age from Lakewood was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic syringe. Both subjects were processed and released on summons.1

On 1/21/22 SCU Detectives observed a vehicle on Rt. 88 and Chambers Bridge Rd. make several motor vehicle violations. SCU conducted a motor vehicle stop. While approaching the vehicle, detectives observed two occupants in the vehicle leaned over inspecting a plastic baggie in the center console area. Detectives then observed the driver of the vehicle stuff the baggie down his pants.
The driver, Keith Morse, 33 years of age from Brick, was arrested and charged with possession of crack-cocaine, possession of Oxycodone, intent to distribute crack-cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended and possession of a controlled dangerous substance inside a motor vehicle.

The passenger, Tyler Breece, 24 years of age from Brick, was charged with loitering to obtain a controlled dangerous substance. Morse and Breece were processed and lodged in Ocean County Jail.


On 1/11/22 SCU detectives observed a motor vehicle violation and conducted a traffic stop in Yorktown Plaza. The driver, Odeanne Lawes, 33 years old from NY, caused a scene by yelling and failing to obey police commands. Lawes was charged with obstruction and released on a summons.

On 1/10/22 SCU Detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Hooper Avenue near Gloria Ann Smith Drive. During the course of the investigation, the driver advised officers she was in possession of heroin and pulled approximately (10) ten wax folds wrapped in a rubber band out from the front of her pants. The driver, Kimberly Sweet, 49 years of age from Brick, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia and possession of a controlled dangerous substance inside a motor vehicle. Sweet was processed and released on a summons.
