CLINTON, MARYLAND – Maryland Lottery players who win big typically claim their prizes in person at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. However, a Clinton man who won $50,004 on Bonus Match 5 took an alternate approach: he claimed by mail.
The 69-year-old took advantage of the game’s bonus pricing and bought nine quick-pick games for $6, with the ninth game proving to be the winner. He matched all five digits to score the game’s top prize. The Prince George’s County resident also matched three balls in each of two other games to pick up the additional $4 in winnings.

He bought his hot ticket Jan. 26, the day of the drawing, at Chesapeake Liquors located at 8853 Branch Avenue in Clinton. The retailer picks up a bonus of $500, equal to 1 percent of the prize, for selling a top-prize winning Bonus Match 5 ticket
Bonus Match 5 drawings take place seven days a week. Players select five numbers ranging from 1 to 39. The Bonus Ball drawn from the remaining 34 numbers provides extra chances to win. Your ticket is a winner if you match five, four or three of the original five winning numbers selected in the drawing. If you match the Bonus Ball number, you only need to match four, three or two of your original numbers to win.
