Del Rio Sector Agents Seize Narcotics

DEL RIO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to Del Rio Sector’s Del Rio Station seized narcotics from an abandoned backpack, Feb. 1.

At approximately 1 a.m., agents responded to an alert to possible illegal activity near Guyler Lane. Upon arrival, agents encountered three individuals, one of whom dropped a backpack and attempted to abscond into the nearby brush. All individuals were arrested and identified as undocumented migrants illegally present in the United States. A subsequent search of the backpack revealed 5.8 pounds of methamphetamine and .44 pounds of fentanyl.

The case has been turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
