SHALIMAR, FL – Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responding to a shots fired complaint on 6th Street in Shalimar Wednesday heard multiple additional gunshots being fired while on the scene talking to the reporting person. A deputy walking towards the shots noticed a man through a sliding glass door at 31 B 6th Street and tried unsuccessfully to make contact.

The resident of that apartment, 29-year old Timothy Young, is on felony probation until July 2024. Deputies acquired a firearms-related search warrant and found Young and his girlfriend inside.

A search of the attic turned up three firearms, multiple items of ammunition and approximately 960 pills of Alprazolam.

A review of Young’s criminal history revealed nine prior felony convictions including trafficking in heroin. Young is now charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, distribution of a Schedule IV drug, and violation of felony probation. The investigation into the shots fired, which resulted in damage to a nearby residence, continues.
