Lottery Routine Leads Virginia Man To Claim $100K on Big Cash Riches scratch-off

BEL ALTON, MARYLAND – Every week, a Virginia resident stops at Maryland Lottery retailers on his way home from work to buy tickets. His games of choice are Multi-Match and scratch-offs. On the day that $100,000 worth of big riches came his way, the player had stopped at a Charles County business to try his luck.

The 58-year-old went into Green’s Liquor located at 9201 Crain Highway in Bel Alton. The King George County resident was searching for new scratch-offs to play and had only seen the Big Cash Riches game once before. In addition to buying that $10 instant ticket, he bought two $5 scratch-offs and a $20 game.

When he scratched off the Big Cash Riches instant ticket, the loyal player realized he won the game’s $100,000 top prize. He recalled saying, “Oh my God,” and continuing to look over his instant ticket before calling his family to share the great news.

The lucky player has installed flooring for the past 30-plus years. When asked of his plans for his prize, he said that he plans to pay off his mother’s mortgage as well as do some needed home remodeling.

Green’s Liquor can also celebrate. The store will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for its role in selling a top-prize winning scratch-off of $100,000.

The Big Cash Riches game just went on sale in December and has already revealed three of its eight top prizes. Players can also search for eight $20,000 second-tier prizes and 19 $10,000 prizes.
