Toms River Schools to transition to optional masking on March 7th

TOMS RIVER, NJ – In twenty-two days, students in the Toms River Regional School District can ditch their masks and show their smiles as the district has officially announced it will transition to mask-optional on March 7th. On that day, New Jersey’s universal statewide mask mandate will end and local school districts will be the sole authority when it comes to the decision to continue enforcing mask-wearing, or not.

Toms River, at this time, says the district will not enforce masking but will allow students who wish to do so, to continue.

“As Superintendent Genco noted publicly last night, we plan to transition to “mask optional” when @GovMurphy ‘s mandate ends effectively March 7,” the district said in a tweet. “We plan to do so, however, while remaining committed to the health and safety of all individuals, and to that end we await the forthcoming guidance from the @NJDeptofHealth. Once received and reviewed, we will communicate directly with our parents and families on our plans moving forward. Thank you”
