Teen shot simply for admiring gunman’s car

COLUMBUS, OH – A Columbus teenager was shot simply for admiring another person’s gold-painted vehicle. He was chased through the park and shot by the owner of the car.

Columbus Police report on February 13, 2022, at 4:25 am, they responded to St. Ann’s Hospital on a walk-in shooting victim.

“The 17-year-old stated he was in the area of Cooper Park walking to the Speedway when an unknown suspect pulled up in a gold 4-door vehicle,” police said. “The victim said the suspect got out of the vehicle and asked him if he was “messing” with his vehicle. The victim was chased by the suspect through the park. The victim stated that while he was running, he heard a single gunshot and realized that he had been struck in the right leg.”

The victim was hospitalized in stable condition and is expected to survive his injury. This incident is still under investigation.
