Maryland man charged for DWI in East Brunswick

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – On February 12, 2022, at approximately 11:04 pm, Patrolman Christopher Suydam responded to Suydam Street near Kennedy Boulevard for the report of a disabled motor vehicle. Upon arrival, the vehicle was located idling in the roadway at a stop sign. Patrolman Suydam approached the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Abdul Bangura (40 YOA from Landover, MD), and passenger, Kwame Marcano (33 YOA from Landover, MD). Both occupants were found to be sleeping in the vehicle.

An on-scene investigation conducted by Patrolman Suydam revealed Bangura was under the influence and was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted, which led to the discovery of a handgun, ammunition, opened container of alcohol, and several bags of marijuana.

Bangura and Marcano were processed and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 2C:39-5B(1) and were transported to Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center.
