Fatal hit and run crash under investigation in Houston

HOUSTON, TX – Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash at 11400 Harwin Drive about 11:25 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 15). The identity of the deceased male, 22, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer D. Hoang reported: The male, a pedestrian, was crossing the street in or near the crosswalk at the above address (Boone Road intersection) when he was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Harwin Drive.

The driver fled the scene without stopping to render aid.  The vehicle is described only as a dark Chevrolet Tahoe or Suburban. Witnesses stated that when the traffic light turned yellow, the suspect vehicle changed lanes, drove around a vehicle preparing to stop at the light and then struck the pedestrian.  Paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene.
