Newark police searching for perp who stole and used credit card

NEWARK, NJ – Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara requests the public’s help with identifying a suspect, who was captured on surveillance video cameras using a credit card that was taken from the victim’s vehicle after it had been broken into on February 12, 2022.

At approximately 8:47 p.m., police responded to a criminal mischief call in the 200 block of Halsey Street. When they arrived, the victim told officers that her vehicle had been burglarized and several items were missing, including her wallet containing a credit card and money. The suspect, white male wearing all black with a red splatter design on his shirt, was captured on surveillance video cameras using the credit card at several locations in downtown Newark.

Director O’Hara urges anyone with information about the suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
