Suspect charged after shooting brother twice in Houston during argument over disrespectful friend

HOUSTON, TX – Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 5523 Elm Tree Street about 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday.

The suspect, Ernest Isaac Alford, 37, is charged with aggravated assault of a family member in the 183rd State District Court. A booking photo of Ernest Alford is attached to this news release.   He is accused in the shooting of his brother Laquinton Alford, 33.   HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer L. Garcia reported:   According to a witness, Ernest and Laquinton Alford got into an argument about an acquaintance acting disrespectful. 

Ernest took out his gun and shot Laquinton multiple times.  Laquinton was struck twice in the abdomen and once in the wrist.  Ernest then left the scene.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported Laquinton to an area hospital with non-fatal gunshot wounds.   A short time later, Ernest turned himself in to police and officers recovered the weapon from his vehicle. Ernest Alford was subsequently charged for his role in the shooting and transported to the Harris County Jail.
