Manatee County deputies receive life saving award after helping suicide victim

MANATEE COUNTY, FL – In October 2021, Deputies Alexander Nikias and Philip Fellows were dispatched to a call where a victim was attempting to end his life. They arrived just in time to save the person, and he eventually regained consciousness and began talking to them. He told the deputies he had a severe drinking problem and did not want to live any longer. When Deputy Nikias learned the man was a former Marine like himself, he built a strong rapport with the victim and was able to calm him down and get him the help he needed.

For their quick actions that saved the victim’s life and their compassion which lead to a uplifting rapport, Deputies Philip Fellows and Alexander Nikias have been presented MCSO’s Life Saving Award.
