Wilmington man facing DUI, weapon charges after traffic stop

Wilmington- Delaware State Police arrested Mustafa Dollard, 40, of Wilmington, DE, for DUI and weapon charges following a traffic stop Tuesday night.

On Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at approximately 8:37 p.m., a trooper on routine patrol on Governor Printz Boulevard in the area of Edgemoor Road observed a maroon Buick Century traveling northbound Governor Printz Boulevard above the posted speed limit. A traffic stop was initiated, and contact was made with the operator and sole occupant, Mustafa Dollard. Upon contact the trooper immediately smelled an odor of alcoholic beverages and marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The trooper also observed obvious signs of impairment on the operator and a DUI investigation ensued. Subsequently, a probable cause search was conducted and the trooper located a loaded Ruger LCR handgun inside of the vehicle. A computer inquiry revealed Dollard is a person prohibited from possessing a weapon.

Dollard was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 1 where he was charged with the following crimes:


  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm While Under the Influence
  • Driving While Suspended
  • Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of a Drug
  • Failure to Have Insurance
  • Speeding

Dollard was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $31,502 cash bond.
