BIG PINE KEY, FLORIDA – A 48-year-old Big Pine Key man was arrested Friday for choking a woman and causing her to lose consciousness multiple times.

Gary Milton Hill was charged with battery and kidnapping/false imprisonment.

Deputy Alexander Morales responded to Fishermen’s Hospital at approximately 6 p.m. regarding a man attempting to speak to a female patient.

The female patient told Deputy Morales that Hill began arguing with her hours earlier at their Big Pine Key camper. The victim stated Hill wouldn’t let her leave during the incident. She stated Hill began to choke her and that she lost consciousness. She further stated that when she awoke, Hill choked her again and she again lost consciousness. The victim stated this occurred about five or six times.

The victim was able to kick out a window and yell for help. She injured her leg on the broken glass and Hill subsequently called 911.

Deputy Morales observed injuries to the victim’s neck consistent with being choked. He also noted her voice was raspy and strained.

Hill was taken to jail.
