Racetrax Novice From Essex Nearly Cancels Bet before Winning $15K

ESSEX, MARYLAND – Playing Racetrax was a new endeavor for a loyal Keno player, so she relied on a friend to show her the ropes of the game. Beginner’s luck helped the Essex woman win a $15,269 prize.

The 46-year-old found her lucky Racetrax ticket at Scoozzi Restaurant, which is located at 7625 German Hill Road in Baltimore. What makes her win so special is the fact that she nearly canceled her ticket purchase after seeing its cost. She had randomly selected horses 3, 4, 6, and 10 for a $1 Superfecta Box bet. After opting for two drawings, the total tab came to $48. The cost didn’t seem worth it at first but, after a split second, the Racetrax novice decided to try her luck. Her horses crossed the finish line together in the second race.

“I almost passed out,” the happy winner said after seeing she won $15,269. The Lottery windfall comes at a perfect time, she said, because she can now take her children on a much-needed vacation.

Also happy to be a part of her winning story is Scoozzi Restaurant. The Baltimore County retailer will receive a $152.69 bonus from the Lottery for its role in selling a winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 or more. The bonus is equal to 1% of the prize.
